AJ Michalka was born in Torrance, California. Her mother, Carrie, who is an accomplished musician as well, encouraged her to take up the profession of musician. Her birthplace was in Torrance, California, AJ was inspired by her mom, Carrie, who herself was an accomplished musician. AJ had a very early life predominantly in Torrance and Seattle. The two began playing the guitar and piano at the age of a child. When they entered into their teens, they were well-versed in their domain. AJ was only five years old when she began to act in the church's plays. AJ played a part in her school's musical productions. AJ started her career in acting in 2002 when she was an 11 year old on the television show "Passions".
